Bring your bank statement into the budget—on your schedule
Counts gives file-first budgeters a controlled path from bank statement to household ledger. You choose the statement, review the detected columns and transactions, and decide what becomes part of the budget. The file is not permission for a live bank feed.
Start freeReview before anything is saved
Column mapping and transaction review happen before imported rows enter the household ledger.
Catch duplicate activity
Import fingerprints help prevent the same statement row from being added twice.
Keep categories connected to the plan
Assign imported spending to the envelopes that answer what remains safe to spend.
How to get started
Export a clean statement
Download CSV from the financial institution and remove columns that are not needed for budgeting.
Map and review
Confirm date, description, amount, and account fields. Check signs, transfers, and duplicates.
Add only the rows you want
Import the reviewed activity, then categorize and reconcile against the statement balance.
Questions people ask before starting
Does CSV import connect Counts to my bank?
No. A CSV import is a file you choose to export and upload. It does not grant ongoing access to the financial institution.
Is CSV import included on Free?
Yes. Counts Free includes CSV transaction imports within the plan’s history and account limits.
What if my bank uses unusual column names?
Counts lets you review detected fields before importing. The public Statement Matchup tool can also check whether common transaction fields are recognizable.
Should I include account numbers?
No. Remove full account numbers, routing numbers, and unrelated sensitive fields before importing.
