Your budget can be useful without watching your bank.

Budget without linking your bank

Automatic bank feeds are convenient, but they are not the only way to keep a budget current. Counts is designed for people who prefer deliberate entry and file imports, including households whose banks are unsupported or whose privacy preferences rule out account linking.

Start free

No bank password requested

Create accounts and balances in Counts without connecting an online-banking login.

Import instead of retyping

Bring in CSV, QFX, or OFX files, review the result, and keep the ledger aligned with your statements.

Reconcile with a clear difference

Compare the Counts balance with the real account balance and resolve the gap intentionally.

How to get started

  1. Add the account

Enter its name, type, and starting balance. Do not enter account numbers or credentials.

  2. Record or import activity

Use quick manual transactions during the week or import a statement file on your schedule.

  3. Reconcile regularly

Confirm the ending balance and investigate only the transactions that do not match.

Questions people ask before starting

Does Counts connect to my bank?

No. Counts currently supports manual transactions and file imports rather than direct bank connections.

Which file formats can I import?

Counts supports CSV on Free. Counts Plus is designed to add QFX and OFX imports.

Is manual budgeting more work?

It requires a short, regular check-in, but many people prefer the control and awareness. Imports can reduce typing while keeping bank access separate.

Should I upload full account statements?

Import only the fields needed for budgeting and keep unnecessary sensitive information out of the file.
